FEELING BETTER IS ITS OWN REWARD
The primary goal of Darren Richardson, owner and operator of Golden State Touch,
is helping his clients feel better through the skilled and mindful application of
reflexology, massage therapy and acupressure.
Darren has 15-plus years experience as a professional reflexologist and massage
therapist. A graduate of both the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville (1994) and
the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley (2007), Darren also regularly attends
continuing education seminars through the International Institute of Reflexology. He
has more than 1,000 combined classroom hours of massage, reflexology and
acupressure training, is licensed in the city of Berkeley, and is certified by the
California Massage Therapy Council (certification No. 5916).
DARREN'S BACKGROUND
Between late 1994 and early 2006, while working full-time as a copy editor and
headline writer for a major Bay Area newspaper, Darren maintained a steady
part-time massage and reflexology practice.
As the newspaper industry began to feel the effects of the weakening economy,
layoffs and staff reductions were increasingly common. In 2006, Darren was laid off
along with more than 100 co-workers. After a brief period of wondering, wandering
and writing fiction following the layoff, he began attending acupressure classes in
late 2006 and started working regularly in the holistic health field in late 2007.
Inspired by the natural beauty of California and the desire to help others feel better
through the simple yet profound effects of somatic therapies, he started Golden
State Touch in the summer of 2009.
In addition to the previously mentioned hands-on training, Darren has taken
workshops and classes in Healing Imagery, Nutritional Strategies, Intuitive Touch
and more, and has received Reiki I and II attunements. He has a deep appreciation
of nature and has logged upwards of a thousand miles on Northern California trails
with the Bay Area Barefoot Hikers since the mid-1990s. He welcomes inquiries and
invites you to follow GSTouch on Twitter.
